OMAP_mux on beaglebone ubuntu/ GPIO access

I tried getting this answered here but it’s been a couple days and I assumed it got lost.

basically I installed ubuntu 13.04 on my BBB using method 1 from the elinux wiki. After spending a few days installing things I decided to start working with the GPIO. But hello there is no OMAP_mux in the kernel.

I read from the other post to do this

You need to mount the debug file system: mount -t debugfs none /sys/kernel/debug

Better still, do it in /etc/fstab by adding: debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs 0 0

Neither worked. So I presume that the image I got for ubuntu doesn’t have that module or whatever. Is there a way to install that into the kernel?

Or should I just reinstall with an image with that has it. And if that is true where can I get an image that would have it?

By the way when I run uname -r it returns 3.8.8-bone14

Well yeah, omap_mux does not exist with 3.8/device tree..

Oh it has it, you just have to mount it correctly..
sudo mount -t debugfs debugfs /sys/kernel/debug

Or should I just reinstall with an image with that has it. And if that is
true where can I get an image that would have it?

Regards,

I’m confused. You said it isn’t in 3.8. But then said it is?

Same problem,
I’m testing Ubuntu 13.04 with kernel 3.8.13-bone20
debugfs is mounted but in /sys/kernel/debug there is not omap_mux.
