OMAP3 beagle board as development platform

Hi All,

I am newbie to OMAP, BB and TI processor. I bought beagle board. I am
planning to use this as development platform first as I am new to this
TI world, after familiarizing I will start some simple audio
application.

Here I have queries

1. Can I use Beagle board as ref. platform for developing audio
algorithms or simple applications for TMS320C64x+ DSP( which is in
OMAP3530 ) ignoring ARM

2. What are the hardware and software tools required to start the
development and learn things on TI ( I heard CCS is one such tool )

3. how I can test any algorithm/application developed

4. Please suggest whether I can use BB as starter or is there any
other alternative for starting algorithm/application development
5. it will great if anyone can tell what are the IDE and other tools
required to start learning the work on TMS320C64x+ ( which is on
OMAP3)

Thanks in advance

A long answer would mean going into advertising mode.. probably not
appropriate here. So just some short ones. In general you should find
more info on the TI home page and the communities there.

Generally yes, CodeComposer Studio and a JTAG emulator are needed for
real debug work.

2. What are the hardware and software tools required to start the
development and learn things on TI ( I heard CCS is one such tool )

See the TI homepage for CCS.

3. how I can test any algorithm/application developed

Using the debugger in CCS for example.

4. Please suggest whether I can use BB as starter or is there any
other alternative for starting algorithm/application development

TI provides standard Evaluation modules and there are other boards.
Usually much more expensive...

5. it will great if anyone can tell what are the IDE and other tools

CCS includes an IDE and the code generation tools. Latest version CCS4
will be Eclipse based.

Thank you for your quick response. I have posted same queries in TIe2e
forum few hours before but till now no response.
I thought BB forum will be the right one to get things and move fast.

I think I need to buy these things from TI ? have any idea about
cost ?
Will these two are enough for at start?
Where I can get some sample codes to get feminize to start?

Since TI boards are much expensive I am planning to use our BB.
can I use?

yes, to get specific problems solved, though not as a tutorial.
