OT: low power replacement for a optical mouse for my beaglebone

Hi,

To make my beaglebone really mobile I want to attach a mouse to it.

I looked for notebook mice in the internet but only found optical
ones often with wireless support. Both features "eat" power.

Are there other "things", which can be used as a mouse (beside
the touchscreen of the LCD7 cape) for this purpose which have a
lower power consumption -- I am out of ideas?

Did you forget about regular ball mice? Track balls? External track pads have been available since the 90s too. What’s the application? If you need a mouse then I’m assuming you have a screen to. If that’s the case then the power draw of the mouse is the least of your worries.
