I’m having trouble accessing my BBBlue. I have used it in the past using my home Wifi but the Wifi password has changed so I can’t SSH over the wifi. I tried plugging in the BBBlue into my USB port and using SSH with no joy. Do I need a driver on my computer to do that. I can’t remember what I did when I first used it. I thought I would try just loading a new debian image but it seems I need to log in to do that.
Any suggestions?

Ay? Why would you need to know the WiFi password? ... or do you mean
that the BBBlue hasn't been reconfigured with the new WiFi password?

Yes, but my question was - is the problem that you haven't been able
to program the new password into the BBBlue? If so, could you not
revert to the old password temporarily, then connect to the BBBlue and
change the WiFi password there and then change back to the new password.

They seem right I think (others will confirm).
You don’t need to log in to set up a new image, but it overwrites everything.
Old images needed you to change some stuff on Windows to SSH over USB. New images don’t. I take it you haven’t been keeping your kernel upgraded, etc?
I recommend Chris’s solution about changing the wifi password back, logging in temporarily, and updating to the new password. Then update your kernel (find / -name ".git" will show you all the git repos on the device that can be fetched/diff/merged/pulled w/ their README’s and all) and test your USB to make sure it works after that.
It’s been about a year since I used it so I have not been updating. I was thinking about hooking up to port zero which I understand will allow up to access the computer with terminal software. Note I also tried to connect from a Ubuntu Linux PC. No Joy.
So I guess it’s not possible to load a new image if you can’t connect to Linux. I thought you could do that on the BB black.

You can load an image without logging in- but it overwrites whatever is on their. There is even a node app that I can link to you if you’d like to overwrite the image via USB instead of SD Card.
The true last-line of defense and must-have in your toolkit is a USB->Serial converter. Although, I use the black mostly, so I’m not sure if the blue has that (and don’t want to look it up :-P)
I have a USB to serial. So I think I’ll try connecting to the Blue using the 0 port.

Hi Andy,
I set up a FTDI cable and I can talk to the 0 port. That’s the good news. I can see it try to boot but it has errors.
I can’t install via USB because my problem is I can’t connect via the USB.
So I want to put in a fresh install. Nuke it. I put a ISO image on a SD card but I’m not sure how to get the BBBlue to load it.

I’m not sure if the instructions for this are different than those for BBB so I’m wary to offer help, but either way, it should be pretty clear on the website… this is the one thing pretty much everyone has to do 
an update on my problems. I set up an FTDI to connect to the zero port on the BB blue and was able to see the info. The BB blue is not going into linux. I can talk to it but it’s not in linux. Some kind of support mode I guess.
So I bought another BB blue and I have connected using the FTDI and set up the wifi on it and upgraded and it’s working. But I still can’t get to it from windows 10 throught the USB port. I have not tried that from my Linux computer yet.

Not being able to see it over USB despite having a recent image is quite odd, hopefully someone else will chime in. Again, maybe a blue vs black issue.
