Qt Embedded and PowerVR Driver

Has any one had luck getting the PowerVR driver working qith QT 4.5.0
and OpenEmbedded?

I added " -plugin-gfx-powervr -opengl es2" to the qt4-embedded_4.5.0.bb

When I boot the image I run "export QWS_DISPLAY=powervr"
Then when I run my app i get the following output

powervr: driver not found
Aborted

Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I have no experience with powervr driver so these may sound
dumb but I say anyway.

Have you installed the driver plugin into the qt plugin folder?

Is your application loading the plugin? AFAIK, you need to load
plugins when you need them.

the plugin exists in /usr/lib/qtopia/plugins/gfxdrivers/

Also my understand of the plugins were that they were loaded as the
QWS and you didn't have to call them out specifically in your code.

Not to rain on your parade, but I talked to the Trolltech (well, Nokia nowadays) developers and they say using the SGX for 2d stuff is sloooooow. Anything that isn't like quake3 will be slow on the sgx :frowning:

If I am using vector graphics in QT shouldn't the OpenGLES
capabilities give me a boost? Not that I would be able to know one
way or the other since the problem still exists that it will not let
me use the powervr driver (whether it is slow or not).

It would be approx 2-4 times slower than using the cpu.

Koen

Besides OpenVG implementation on OMAP is buggy like crazy.

What if you are wanting to do alpha transparency? Will that be slower
than using the CPU?

Its great if you have been told that it would be that slow but since
that was not my original question, I would still like to know why the
driver won't load.
