Besides Chalandi TI’s SDK port of the secondary boot loader (SBL) to work on the Pocket Beagle 2, has anyone done any work (or research) on modifying other parts of the SDK so that it can be used with the Pocket Beagle 2? I believe a port will require modifications to the DPL layer and maybe the driver layer. Also, a new sysconfig file will need to be generated. It will certainly require changes to the Chalandi SBL code.
I’d separate the problem into the SBL itself and the pieces it hands off to. For the first pass, compare the closest TI board configuration and change only the Pocket Beagle 2 board data: pin mux, clocks, DDR settings, boot media, and the board’s memory map. Keeping that diff small makes it much easier to tell whether a failure is in early hardware init or later software.
I’d also generate a fresh SysConfig output for the exact board rather than reusing a file from a similar EVM, then check the DPL and driver changes against the board schematic. Bring it up with a serial console and verify one milestone at a time—SBL banner, DDR test, loading the next image, and finally a peripheral—so the first missing stage points to the right layer.
The staged serial bring-up is the bit that saves time here, otherwise every bad handoff just looks like an SBL problem. DDR and the memory map will probably expose themselves before the higher driver stuff does.
