realtime clock

Hi,

I know this has been discussed before, but has anyone has made a
realtime clock board for the beagle?

I am considering using the DS1340 since I would only need a few
additional components.

You might also check out the DS1338C, with an integrated crystal. I
think this is the one I used in a design a few years ago.

A number of the Maxim / Dallas Semi RTCs have integrated crystals, and
some only require a single decoupling cap. The DS1338 could be one of
those ... I did not look.

Turns out they make a DS1340C version too, the only difference is the
1340 supports trickle-charging (so you can use a rechargeable cell or
super cap) but it has to be enabled in software.

Yes, since there's one built-in to the TWL4030.

Am I mistaken, or will the TWL4030's RTC stop ticking when power to the
board is removed. Also correct me if I'm wrong that we don't have access to
the backup power input to the twl4030 on the beagleboard.

Yes, that is the problem. The battery backup is not brought out.

Will the TWL4030 RTC be fully available with the battery in the Rev C
board?

No. There are no changes in this area on the Rev C board.
