The DSS kernel arguments are explained in the Linux kernel
documentation folder. See [1].
My guess is the critical boot arguments should look something like:
omapdss.def_disp=tv omapfb.mode=tv:pal

Even I would also like to know the parameters for PAL settings.
The DSS2 documentation is difficult to comprehend, some help would
really be appreciated.
Did you try my suggestion?
omapdss.def_disp=tv omapfb.mode=tv:pal
Hello Jason.
Thanks for the help. Yes, it worked. Now that I know, I am embarrassed
I couldn't do this earlier.
It does display something on the tv - but the result is too large for
the TV - with stuff clipped off of the screen
I've tried vatious omapfb.mode settings but still I get the clipped
display

720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) cannot be fully used on a TV, a part of that is clipped or not shown by the TV.
