scriptable access to gmail from beagleboard xm (angstrom)

Hello,

I'm trying to write a script or program to fetch a message from gmail.

For instance:

import poplib
Mailbox = poplib.POP3_SSL('pop.googlemail.com', '995')
Mailbox.user('myname')
Mailbox.pass_('mypass')
print len(Mailbox.list()[1])

works fine on ubuntu, but on beagle board with stock angstrom i get:

Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "poptest.py", line 6, in <module>
     Mailbox = poplib.POP3_SSL('pop.googlemail.com', '995')
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'POP3_SSL'

I've had a similar problem using Python's imaplib:

imaplib.IMAP4_SSL(IMAP_SERVER, IMAP_PORT)
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'IMAP4_SSL'

Is there no implementation of SSL for Angstrom?

Is there a preferred or alternate way to fetch a gmail message?

Thanks,
Michael
