Not if you have any capes that use pull up resistors to the 3.3V EXP
voltage or any 3.3 V level that's derived from SYS5V. If you just run a
battery and no capes, it'll work fine.
This is assuming you use the P6 connector battery pins.

So I can't put a lithium battery powered Beaglebone to sleep unless I
