smallest boot time

Dear Beagle Board hackers and users,

I am new to the ARM world.

1. How long does U-Boot need on the Beagle Board to load?
2. As posted [1] I want to run TVDR on the Beagle Board. So it needs
to boot really fast. Do you have any numbers what is possible? Shivdas
already asked on how to measure the boot time [2] and said that it
takes around nine to ten seconds with his setup.

I know that this also depends on what you load and what storage you
use. Do you have any suggestions? Searching for »beagle board boot
time« did not turn up anything useful for me.

err, my DVR at home boot when the power company is on strike, which happens
almost never, so why is boot time a concern?

I am planning to turn it off when it is not used to save power
although it might be small.

If for example a movie is supposed to be recorded it would be nice,
that it boots fast.
