Spread Spectrum Clocking on BBB?

Hello,

I would like to implement spread spectrum clocking for the BBB. Does the processor on the board support this? If so, how do I enable it? Thank you.

Best regards,
Paul

The processor should support it.

To implement it, redesign the board.

Gerald

Hi.

What kind of board changes would be required to enable spread spectrum clocking? The TI AM335x reference manual doesn’t mention any physical requirements for the feature to be used.

Chris

You need to have a spread spectrum clock generator mounted in place of the crystal on the board. You might try searching the forum. This was discussed a few years ago on an earlier BeagleBoard.

Gerald

Oh ok.

Thank you for the info. Wasn’t even aware that such a part existed.

You do not need to buy anything. It is right in the TI’s DM37xx. Please refer to section 13.4.11.3.2 SSC in the AM/DM37x Multimedia Device TRM.

Too bad that the board does not use the DM37x processor.
