To be able to nfs-mount or not to be able to use nfs-mount..."why" is the question

Hi,

whe I first boot my beaglebone an then boot my PC I am able to nfs-mount
my beaglebone rootfs with my PC and I am able to nfs-mount a part of
my PCs fs with my beaglebone.

BUT: When I first boot my PC I am still able to nfs-mount parts of the
PCS fs with my beagle bone, but trying to mount my beaglebones rootf
with my PC hangs (no error messages, no entry at the kernels log
(demsg).

Loaded modules are identical in both cases.

The PC and the beaglebone do have the same IPs in both cases. Both
are connected to my DSL modem via a switch.

What does cause this ?

Thank you very mch in advance for any help!
Best regards,
mcc

PS: using GENTOO with Robert Nelson great kernel!

I saw something similar to this, and it turned out that something was delaying the initialization of NFS for quite a long time - a minute or two? I could not immediately connect on boot up, but if I waited a couple of minutes then tried to mount it worked.

I recall that there was some discussion of this somewhere, probably on this forum, about how the kernel code handled this and maybe even how to improve or get around it, but it was not important enough at the time for me to pursue it.

Hi Mickey,

with beaglebone there is no delayed nfs initialization (except the
dealay exceeds one hour...).

It simply does not work, when the PC was booted first...

How can I fix that?
