Ubuntu BBB ssh hanging and fickle ethernet

So… after a couple of days of not being able to work with it, I powered it up today into my usb and inserted the ethernet, and boom it just worked. I just did a sudo apt-get and it was all good.

This is great and all, but I’m confused as to why. I didn’t do anything between last post and this one.

I’m starting to think ssh is tied to the ETH port. So if you just have USB connected it doesn’t work… I’ll be home later tonight as that is one thing I really want to test.

To be clear, in past failures of being able to receive pings, I have had ethernet connected as well. Right now, everything previously diagnosed as not working is working, but I have yet to re-insert any ports or power down the bone.
