USB Host Failure

I have two bones, one with ubuntu 13 and one with factory settings. I’ve been using the ubuntu one predominantly until last night when the usb host failed. It’s very unclear to me why because everything else seems to be working (i2cdetect detects other device, gpio pins receive data, usb slave is good). I tested out the usb devices I’ve been using on both my computer and the other bone with success.

I’ve also tried both restarting the bone and the usbreset suggestion that Arthur proposed here. Neither worked.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Dmesg isn’t telling me much:

Any change when you upgrade to the latest 'bone27/28'?

If it's my root file system:
wget http://rcn-ee.net/deb/raring-armhf/v3.8.13-bone27/install-me.sh
/bin/bash install-me.sh

Regards,

Thanks for the quick reply Robert. I just tried the solution you posted but still the usb is not reading any device. Is there output that I should be expecting that would help debug this?
