USB question

I searched the archives and can’t find an answer.
Can the MicroUSB (Client) become a Host?

Thanks
Don

You did not search long / good enough. This very same discussion was had about a week ago. Anyway . . .

Short answer is no. The long answer is yes, but it will void your warranty, and you can expect zero support from anyone if attempting to do so. As it requires moding the board, and can fry component on the board.

google search Beaglebone black 2 host USB, and you’ll likely find the mod I am speaking of in the first page of results. Just be warned, proceed at your own digression / risk.

Hi William,
Hmm guess I did not look good enough!
Thanks for the info and will read it and take your warning to heart.
I was hoping for a simple solution, wanted to native USB hosts so I wouldn’t
have to run a hub, but I don’t want to hurt my Beagle

Thanks for the info.

Don

Using a hub, one listed on circuitco’s accessory page, or something else known good ( powered ) would probably be your best bet.

Good luck

Read the hack, and you are correct. Not worth the time, trouble and risk to the board.
will do plan B, the hub.
Thanks for the info.
