USBFS on Angstrom v2012.12 with kernel 3.8.13 June 25

hi all,

I’m trying to get my CCD camera working on the BBB. This requires USBFS support as the driver uses fxload to push firmware to the camera.

However Angstrom doesn’t support USBFS. I downloaded kernel-headers and kernel-dev and added CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y in the kernel .config

However when I do a “make” after the “make prepare” and “make menuconfig” I get this error…

root@beaglebone:/usr/src/kernel# make uImage
CHK include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h
CHK include/generated/utsrelease.h
make[1]: include/generated/mach-types.h' is up to date. make[1]: *** No rule to make target kernel/bounds.c’, needed by `kernel/bounds.s’. Stop.
make: *** [prepare0] Error 2

Also, it’s been years since I built a Linux kernel (the BBB takes me back 15 years…) I assume the correct invocation is “make uImage” and not “make bzImage” ?

Also where does the kernel binary go? and is there a LILO or GRUB equivalent?

All instructions are here:
