Using a HDMI to VGA Comverter

Hi all,

I successfully booted angstrom in Beagle Board. I Display works properly when i use a DVI monitor. I want to use a HDMI to VGA converter for display purposes. I bought a HDMI to VGA converter and tried to connect the “HDMI out” of Beagle board to a “VGA in” monitor… The display shows “cable not connected”… I am not aware of how to modify the “Environmental Variables” for such( HDMI to VGA) display purposes. Could any one help on how changes has to be madeto the Environment variable for this purpose… ?

Thanks in advance…

Venkatesh Babu

HDMI has VGA in it. DVI-D does not. Beagle puts out DVI-D. In order to convert DVI-D to VGA you need an active converter, not just an adapter.

No.

DVI-D does not.

Correct.

Beagle puts out DVI-D. In order to convert DVI-D to VGA you need an
active converter, not just an adapter.

If he has a gadget described as "HDMI to VGA converter", it must be an
active thing.

Thank you for the correction! Actually DVI has VGA. DVI-D does not.

There are active converters - but for the price of one you might as well buy a used dvi monitor…
