Is there an update to this idea of a BBB/G successor? At least in form factor?
I’m now so desperate for an AM6254-based BBB/BBG drop-in upgrade that I’m considering doing it myself. Although I appreciate the difficult problem of precise P8/P9 header compatibility from beagleboard.org’s viewpoint I don’t need this for my application. Hence why for me this is an “upgrade”, not a “BBB/G replacement”.
To illustrate my problem: Here is a spreadsheet of all modern Beagles (plus Octavo). Yellow indicates limitations and why none of the recent Beagles can be considered an upgrade from my perspective. The blue entry is my ideal BBB/G upgrade. Comments & corrections welcome.
(Yes, Beagle-to-cape adapter boards are being considered, e.g. Y-AI, but this has obvious problems)
Yes I can understand that, the beauty of the original beagle format of dual headers on left and right (taken from Ti Launchpad) led to many capes, and these were mechanically stable unlike the RPi capes. For what its worth the pocket beagle format is set up for click board, so also has the concept of widely available plug in boards.
Guess its a question of does that mechanical form factor of twin headers ever evolve. E.g. are there more pocket beagle format click boards than old beagle capes - has the world moved on. The only advantage I saw in the beagle format, is it enabled slight more pin out that the pocket interface has.
