XM: serial output dead - no ASCID, etc

Hi,

We had an XM that was working fine.
One day powered it up and got *no* serial output.

Tried without the SD card, and we don't even see the ASCID... (tried
resetting several times)
This procedure outputs a little bit of garbage on another XM, which
works fine.

Has this happened to anybody before?
Any tips on what to look for and/or where?

What is the revision of the BeagleBoard-xM?

Sounds like the board has been damaged. I think the best route at this point is to request an RMA and get it looked at.
