Zigbee Protocol Mesh Network: any suggestions with choosing a zigbee module?

I'm doing a senior design project on a Zigbee Protocol Low Powered
Mesh Network system that relays sensor information to the main
controller, which hosts and uploads info to a website via ethernet.

Anyone have experience using Zigbee with the BeagleBoard? I don't
know which Zigbee module will work best.

Thanks

There is no ZigBee driver in Linux because of a licensing issue with the
ZigBee Alliance. The original ZigBee driver development evolved into an
IEEE802.15.4 Mac layer driver with Contiki's 6LowPan code added. This is
essentially the direction ZigBee is going with ZigBee IP.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards,
John

If you could give us more details, like distance between modules, obstacles, size of the transmitted data, interval etc.

Best Regards.

Hi,

For one of our internal R&D projects, we have used some ZigBee based relays and smart-plugs from SimpleHomeNet. I could integrate them into Linux/Android and the communication interface was UART.

Warm Regards,
Anil

i have used zigbee with beagleboard both on android and angstrom
linux..
we used cc2430 based mote from ti.
interface was uart and we used android ndk to access the serial port
in android

Hi anil,

Any open source code for android Zigbee UART communication. could u please give an highlight how u integrated to android.

Thanks
