I want to connect Beagleboard to a PC monitor with HDMI connector. I want to use 720p resolution and don’t know if PC monitors are able to scale 720p resolutions to a full screen 1080. The question here is because I just want to buy such monitor and if had it I’d connect it and try, with no questions.
Does anyone have such monitor and already connected Beagleboard to it?
Thank you very much for the answer. I did not make it clear in the first message that I was going to buy 1920x1080 PC monitor. I just worry about if it can support different horizontal/vertical frequency setup at Beagleboard.
I compared to similar monitors from two brands and found that they support different parameters for 1080 resolution. One wants 148.5MHZ clock and another needs 154MHz. So which one will be able to work with Beagle?

Take your board to the store and give them both a try ?
Funny - I was considering this solution as I am currently for a monitor for my Beagle as well…
I’m not sure the staff at the local big box store would actually let me try that though.
(My Samsung 2253BW seems to cut off the edges of the 1280x720 resolution that the Beagle outputs…I quickly searched the mailing archive this morning and could not find a solution to this issue)
I am pretty sure that guys from the local store will let me connect anything to a brand new monitor. At least even such offer seems to be weird. I believe they will be surprised
Depends on the shop and perhaps also on the country.
I think if you were to go to a good computer store here in NL and they
had the monitor on display, they would not have too much of a problem
with it.
Or buy from a place where you can return it if not happy.
BTW, I use an Iiyama Prolite E2407HDS with my beagle and don't have
any problems with it. It is 24" though so maybe you find it too big.
It has a HDMI, DVI and VGA input so you can connect multiple devices
if you want to. The only minus point is that you can only switch
between inputs through a menu. Next time I'll probably go for
something that has a button to switch inputs.
Purely on impulse I picked up an LG 18.5" W1953T (1366x768) monitor this evening and it works perfectly with the Angstrom demo image as far as I can tell.
I realize this is not a 1080p monitor but it is a monitor that works.
