Access to micro SD

Hi All and thanks for this fantastic community.
I’m a new user of BeagleBone Black and I’m excited to have one in my hands.

My problem is the following: I tried to plug in a micro-SD 2GB but I couldn’t see the card (it is not listed with fdisk).
I thought I could solve by updating the operative system, so I tried to flash the Angstrom Distribution (BeagleBone Black - 2GB eMMC) and did the following:

  • unpack the file Angstrom-Cloud9-IDE-GNOME-eglibc-ipk-v2012.12-beaglebone-2013.06.20.img.xz
  • use dd command to transfer to the SD on my MAC
  • powered down the BBB and plugged in the SD card
  • pressed the USER/BOOT button
  • powered the BBB

Effect is that the Power Led (the one close to power connector) stays ON forever.
In order to recover I have to remove the micro-SD and restart the BBB.
Does someone knows what could be wrong?
I have also tried Ubuntu image but issue is the same.
Thanks a lot,

Vince

I suggest you use the latest image that has this issue fixed. Go to the link on the white card that came in the box.

Also did you try to use the 2GB micro-SD to install the new OS? You have t o use a 4GB micro-SD.

Yves

Yes, I have used a 2GB... I go to by a 4GB SD immediately and let you know. Thanks for the fast feedback!

I bought a 8GB SD Card and it works like a charm… Thanks for the support,
