After applying all commands, the kernel doesn't load correctly

I followed all the commands written such as setting bootargs and loading uimage and dtb file

but on loading the kernel, it is stuck and the last logs I see are those:

[ OK ] Found device /dev/ttyO0.

[ OK ] Reached target Sound Card.

[ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device dev-ttyGS0.device.

[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Serial Getty on ttyGS0.

this is the entire log

kernel used : 6.5.4
rootfs : https://files.beagle.cc/file/beagleboard-public-2021/images/am335x-debian-11.7-iot-armhf-2023-09-02-4gb.img.xz

It worked till yesternday ni8, but not working from today morning.
No idea, why all of sudden there is a problem with rootfs !!!

kernel is booting perfect, but right after booting, serial terminal(minicom) got hangs after displaying message

[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Serial Getty on ttyGS0.

Is that native Ubuntu in your screen shot or are you running Windows and a Ubuntu VM?

Just an FYI, gtkterm works very well.

$sudo apt install gtkterm

It also looks like your kernel is ahead of the tested release. When you do that expect problems, its best to stick with the entire package released by @RobertCNelson, it has been tested.

Hi @foxsquirrel ,

The terminal you are seeing is minicom serial terminal.

I am trying to run linux from SDCard(uImage kept in BOOT partition).
and as mentioned in earlier post, using rootfs from beaglebone board latest images.

rootfs : https://files.beagle.cc/file/beagleboard-public-2021/images/am335x-debian-11.7-iot-armhf-2023-09-02-4gb.img.xz

I am testing everything on board, not on native ubuntu.
But using kernel version of my interest(6.5.4) & rootfs provided by beaglebone website.

When you say entire package released, what do you mean by that ? could you elaborate?
I wanna try this option too, since I am in midway of learning device driver programming & practising on ARM arch board(beaglebone black), I am stuck now, since couldn’t test compiled kernel modules against ARM arch.

Failed because of:

Regards,

Actually I forgot to place kernel modules build from kernel 6.5.4 into rootfs partition(/lib/modules path).
After placing the kernel modules, kernel is UP and running good now in beaglebone black board.

Below is the log

For those new people, above command will append /lib/modules/(kernel version)/ for given installation path
