ALIP is a quite simple distro. It doesn't include a bunch of
applications like Ångström. But it's simpler in many ways and at least I
find it very suitable for small robotics etc. projects. It's designed to
support new boards easily.
And unlike Ångström, it relies on Scratchbox[1] for cross compilation.
Even though Scratchbox introduces it's own problems, it makes the basic
compilation really easy without the need for worrying cross compilation.
