Autologin and startup [ubuntu]

Hello all.

Yet again I need help.
I’d like to know how to autologin as ‘ubuntu’ and ‘root’. I’d also like to know how to get the startup script going in both cases to change the permissions of my device driver and start the app. I’m googling the autologin, but finding a lot of (irrelevant) info and it’s hard to weed out the useful stuff.

Well, the autologin stuff is not uniform.. What login manager are you using?

I got "slim" to work via:
