Automatic GUI install?

Hi,

I installed the demo image of Maverick as outlined here:
http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu . However, my serial port on my
BeagleBoard is not currently working and I would like a GUI install.
Does anyone know if I can edit the setup_sdcard.sh script or install
the GUI through my host PC rather than the BeagleBoard?

Unfortunately, my keyboard and mouse don't seem to be working with the
comand-line Ubuntu right off the bat so I cannot access anything
through the Beagleboard at all at the moment.

Thanks!

Well that sucks as both input methods aren't working... Can you tell
us a little more about your setup..

Which Board:Revision?

Which USB port (otg/ehci)?

USB 2.0 Hub? Externally Powered?

USB Devices Plugged in BEFORE power on?

To answer your question, build on x86, not easily at the moment (qemu bugs)...

You could also try ubuntu's netbook image, but if your usb doesn't
work with mine, it probably won't work with theirs.. but it'll get you
a gui fast..

Regards,

I can confirm. At least, ARM Maverick GUI rootfs
can be built by RootStock on a x86 Lucid desktop for me.
But, just as Nelson said, we need more detail, e.g. full bootlog.

Where/How did you get the u-boot.bin?
I had a experience tells me maybe it’s u-boot problem.

I finally got the image of Maverick up and running but still no
keyboard/mouse. The hub I am using works with Angstrom, so I thought
Ubuntu wouldn't have any issues with it.

I have a rev C4 board, the usb hub is plugged into my OTG port. The
hub is USB 2.0 and has an external power source which I plug in and
all USB devices (keyboard and mouse only) are plugged in before I
power on.

Thanks!

HI Shannon,

Which image of Maverick? Ubuntu's from ubuntu.com or mine from (rcn-ee.net)?

Last i checked, i don't think Ubuntu's kernel supports using the otg
as a host device??

For debugging sake, does it work when you use the ehci port over the otg?

Regards,

Thanks for your reply. I switched to the netbook image from
ubuntu.com. It's the most up to date one for OMAP3. Since I can't
connect the board to my pc to get the GUI up and running, I had to go
with their build.

I plugged my hub into the ehci port and everything works. I'm used to
using a Gumstix board and it only had the OTG port for the hub so I
just automatically used it for the BB. It still seems a little buggy
but everything works for the most part!

Thanks again for your help!
