Backup/copy BBB current MicorSD OpSys to 2nd microSD vi Windows

Trying to use balenaEtcher on Windows 10 to clone current BBB micro-SD Opsys to a backup micro-SD.

BBB is running on 32GB Kingston (CANVAS select Plus) micro-SD. The target backup micro-SD card is a 32GB SanDisk (ImageMate).

Windows format shows the Kingston to be FAT32 (16 kilobytes) with a capacity of 28.8 GB.
Windows format shows the SanDisk to be FAT32 (16 kilobytes) with a capacity of 28.8 GB.

Used balenaEtcher to clone the Kingston micro-SD to regular USB drive. Windows format shows the regular USB to be FAT32 (16 kilobytes) with a capacity of 28.8 GB

balenaEtcher will not let me clone the regular USB to the SanDisk micro-SD because it thinks the SanDisk is smaller than the regular USB.

balenaEtcher shows 32GB for the size of the regular USB and shows 31.9GB for the size of the SanDisk micro-SD.

I deleted the partition from the SanDisk micro-SD, but the results were the same.

  1. Do I need to have the same make and model micro-SD cards in order to clone?
  2. Can I somehow create a flash image of the Kingston to a disk file then write the image file to the SanDisk micro-SD?

This is normal, they are probably off by a few bytes so Etcher will fail…

I’ve seen this tool used before in the RPI forums: bzt / usbimager · GitLab

Regards,

Thanks,

Will download and give it a try
