Basic Beagleboard software questions

For hardware, my goal is to use the BeagleBoard for I/O, data trending, and USB/Ethernet communications. For software, I would like a nice GUI on a 3.5-7.0" touch screen. I am wondering what is the ideal Linux distribution to run on the BeagleBoard and why? What are most of you using? Which OS’s are the easiest to port and manipulate? What kinds of development platforms are you using?

Cheers!

Ideal for what? for who?

All supported or maintained distros can do I/O, data trending, and USB/Ethernet communications

You will need to be either:

  • More specific (really more specific)
  • Do your homework first (Its a matter of just dd’ing most distro images to a SD and do your own tests to have your own conclusion of IDEAL), and then ask specific questions
