BB-XM Froyo freezes on Start up

Hello,

I succefully installed froyo on my bb using the TI prebuilt image.
But I still have a big issue, sometimes my bb can´t boot (freezes on startup, the boot logo keeps loading but doesn´t do anything), the other fewer times it makes it, the load time takes about 5 min.

Does anyone have the same issue? Have i done something wrong?

I´ve not changed anything.

Thank you

You’ll need to provide more information. Connect up to the serial port and capture a log of the serial output.

If you don’t get an answer here, try cross-posting to the list mentioned on http://arowboat.org and posting on the e2e.ti.com forums.

Hi,

We meet this problem before,
It's cause by SD card speed.

You can solve this problem by NFS.

I have that issue also. I got a class 10 4gb to try and it is still slow. What is nfs? The file system? Can you post a link to some info about it?

Thanks,
Marl

I changed to usb boot from my 4gb (Kingstone) Pen drive, it´s faster, but still gets the same problem. Error is somehting like “binder xxx:xxx recount ref 0”… whenever it happens, my android didnt boot. That happens right before adb start.

Hi,

I have seen this issue mostly when I do a hard reset following an
Android freeze. Apart from this message you should have also got a
binder transaction failure error on your Android prompt (not in
logcat). It is some failure like "binder xyz:abc transaction
failed.... etc etc" where "xyz" is the process ID and "abc" is the
thread ID.

To get out of Android boot logo loop you have to kill that process
manually "kill -9 xyz" from Android prompt. I can confirm that I get
this error only while recovering (hard reset) from an Android system
failure. If I do a reboot (from Android prompt) or proper shutdown
(i.e shutting down the system in a stable state) I don't see this
error.

Longer boot time is most probably due to your SD card. I suggest use a
SanDisk card.
