BBB: gadget serial under W7 64bit does not work in putty

Hi!

Does putty work with g_serial under Windows 7 64bits? All drivers have installed flawlessly and I have COM8 in the Device Mahaner, but when I try to connect to a board using putty nothing appears in the terminal window. Any solution for this?

Thanks

I believe so.

Did you start a getty for it on the Beagle side?

It does work. I use it on W7 enterprise 64 bit
Check on the computer that the USB driver is OK (Control Pannel->System->Device Manager->Network Adapters->Linux USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget
(check for errors and check advanced Network address)

It will help to have USB - serial cable for J1 to get direct console messages

Jason,

I can login to a board using a USB-serial cable from FTDI but I want to do the same using the g_serial. Should I do something special on the board side to make it work?

BTW should it work in u-boot?

And also I want to mention that the board is of of the box. It’s A5A with the factory burned image, don’t know which version it is.

Hyper Terminal does not work either. Will try XP soon to check if the issue is under W7

Should also work on serial (COM) with default speed 115200

press enter after the console black screen appears

I tested on W7 Enterprise
