BBB Industrial not flashing

Hi,

I had earlier asked the procedure to flash the board in the forum and was able to succesfully flash it afterwards.

Now today a new issue has occurred where when I try to flash a new image (12.2 and 11.8 Iot eMMC images tried) in the end of flash process all 4 LEDs start blinking together.

This is the console log of boot process after the failed flashing:

Is there a way to recover from here?

Can you post a link to the same image you are using.

It looks like you ‘copied’ the flashing image directly to the eMMC, so now it’s trying to flash the microSD on every bootup…

Just grab the latest image and make sure to hold the S2 button to ensure the microSD boots before the eMMC. Then once booted, erase the eMMC…

Regards,

  1. AM335x 12.2 2023-10-07 4GB eMMC IoT Flasher - BeagleBoard
  2. AM335x 11.8 2023-10-07 4GB microSD IoT - BeagleBoard

I am not sure at this point as I have downloaded a lot of images just because I am trying to do a lot of things parallaly.
I am 100% sure that I copied the 1st one, I am 90% sure about the 2nd one. I think I copied this and changed the uEnv.txt to enable flash boot thinking that it would be the same image except for the flash boot part.

I finally got the board to boot from eMMC with this image. (11.8 iot flasher emmc version)

From all the different combinations that I tried today I have understood that if I hold S2, the processor will look for MLO in the SD Card, otherwise it looks for MLO in eMMC even when loading u-boot from SD card. Is it correct?

I suspect this because earlier forum posts tell to press S2 when sdcard boot is required, but now sdcard boot happens by default if there is a card in the slot and i can’t seem to find MLO in the sdcard image.

Also, is there any things to avoid which can brick the card? I can get hold of JTAG emulators in worst cases. Do I need to be careful or can I play around without worry?

Ignoring physical damage… You will not brick the board…

Regards,
