Beagle Clinic (India) - A Monthly Geek Forum in India

Hi all,

I would like to take this opportunity to get into details of ARM
board.

I am new to this domain.

It will be helpful to guys like me to understand the Concepts of
working with the boards.

I think I said that, May 30 - last saturday of every month.

Khasim

I prefer we should discuss a bit about
Open Embedded - as many have problems using it.
Talk about new boards like leopard, Realtime's beagle and low cost
tools like XDS 100.

Maybe you like to talk about low cost OpenOCD & e.g. Flyswatter, too?

BeagleBoardOpenOCD - eLinux.org

(Note: OpenOCD support for OMAP3 still under development)

Reading

maybe someone is interested in Linux solution, too

Actually, I had xds100 running with OpenOCD. XDS100 is a very simple
design and almost compatible with Flyswatter or other FTDI based
jtag adapters. Unfortunately, this makes XDS100 available for other
vendors products so TI does not want us to release patches(if such a
simple modification can be called a patch) for OpenOCD.

Do you want to say you have OpenOCD & XDS100 for OMAP3 (Beagle) working?

And TI does not want you to release patches for an OpenSource tool like OpenOCD??

A quite astonished

Dirk

So, exactly who is “TI”?

First of all sorry for the confusion, since two people understood
the same thing my wording must be confusing.

What I was trying to say that I have xds100 running with openOCD on
non beagle/omap3 boards. I'm also waiting for A8 support to test my
XDS100 with Beagle.

like OpenOCD??

For xds100, yes. I have xds100 schematics and an openOCD driver for
it but TI's license does not permit me to distribute my patches. I
asked to a TI Europe representative about this issue and he
confirmed that I'm can't release my patches.

In the end, xds100 is a *very* low-cost hardware. I wish it can be
used on Beagle too, without CCS of course.

Caglar

What patches are these? How and where are you planning to release them?
If you can give the header (on these files) then I can talk to legal
and respective teams on getting this resolved - I hope it does.

Actually xds100, flyswatter and all other ftdi based jtag adapters
are the same hardware. This makes xds100 almost working with
openocd. All you need is pin definition and some init code which is
a very *simple* addition to existing openocd drivers. I was going to
post these changes to openocd list for inclusion.

If you can give the header (on these files) then I can talk to legal
and respective teams on getting this resolved - I hope it does.

I tried that route before. Anyway, I can mail the mentioned patches
to you in private if you are interested. Thanks for following up on
this.

Hi, We can use http://elinux.org/BeagleBoard/bangalore_user_meet page
to provide / collect more information.

Texas Instruments, to whom every BeagleBoard geek will be eternally grateful.

Thanks Viral, I have updated the venue and timings.

Volunteers can update themselves.

- Add the topic you want to talk or present
- Add the topic that you would be interested to know about.

I got some goodies like OMAP-Davinci Dummies book, T-Shirts, etc. I
prefer we make some stickers.

Do you guys have any idea like what it should look like? I will print
some angstrom ones and if you make one just send it across, I will get
it printed.

Any thing else ???

Khasim

Actually, I am with TI and I designed the Beagle. My question was who speficially at TI is not letting you make this information available and why?

Gerald

Hi,

Also, usb issues in beagle board and development of clean merged kernel consisting of dsp-bridge, musb patches, pm, dss supporting s-video and 1280x720, omap24xxvlib and omap24xxvout, using omap hardware accleration have to be discussed.

Thanks and Regards,
