We are about 30 minutes out from our weekly IRC meeting. I'll be
checking in on mentors with the thought they will be completing the
following tasks before April 7:
1) Provide me with github account name to provide access to the mentor
logs at https://github.com/jadonk/beagle-gsoc
2) Be signed up on this mailing list
3) Be signed up on https://www.google-melange.com and have created a
connection request to organization id 'beagle', confirming your
commitment to perform some mentoring this summer
4) Review the proposal list at
https://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/proposal/list/org/google/gsoc2014
5) Rate the proposals, giving 1 star for no-go so that we know it has
been reviewed, providing feedback to students whenever appropriate
6) Try to idle in the beagle-gsoc IRC channel on freenode
7) Either attend today's upcoming IRC meeting in beagle-mentors (show
up in beagle-gsoc to ask to get into beagle-mentors) or reply to this
e-mail letting us know you are engaged, reading the logs and otherwise
not running completely open loop
8) Sign up to be willing to mentor at least one project in Melange
The commitment for being a mentor should be expected to be at least
2-4 hours a week, even if you aren't available some weeks and need to
lean on the other mentors to fill in.
There is a nice mentoring guide at
https://code.google.com/p/google-summer-of-code/wiki/Mentors and the
manual is at http://en.flossmanuals.net/GSoCMentoring/.
