Just wondering if there might not be Beagle with the new OMAP4 in the
works. It looks like a great CPU and I would love to get my hands one
one.
Also any chance of the XM packing on a SATA port? The extra USB ports
help a lot but a SATA port would open up more applications for the
board like, Nettop, NAS, and Media PC once we get a version of Flash
working on it.
BeagleBoard.org is committed to open source software and hardware and to provide the fastest processor available through distribution that meets the ultra-low power requirements. We are watching the OMAP4 series of processors with great interest and it is a very new technology with real promise of things to come. If an OMAP4 processor becomes available through distribution that meets the design goals, BeagleBoard.org will be there.
There is no SATA interface on the XM, however, it does provide for the capability to add one via an expansion connector.

I would really like to hear more about the expansion connector. Is
McBSP2 available? For top audio, it would be my wish!
Best regards,

The expansion header is unchanged. It is the same as on the Rev C4.

So any C3 expansion board can be fitted - fine.
siñ
Correct. Even though the board is bigger, the mounting holes and connectors are still in the same place. Plus, the board comes with the connectors preloaded.

Thank you for the information - and the connector!
Will it be a (female) socket or a (male) pin header? And on which side
of the board? I was planning an extension back-to-back so that
components could be accessed on both boards and so that the
Beagleboard would have the socket connector. I can do this with C3
(and C4?) but what about XM?
siñ
All connectors are sockets (female) and are located on the back side of the board.
