p.s. u-boot.img is generated only by *recent* versions of u-boot. if
you're working with an old tarball, that's your problem.

Thanks for the help!
I did get the newest version of the source, and it worked! The MLO/u-
boot.img were created. However after moving it to the SD card on my
beaglebone, nothing shows up in the terminal after reset.

i can only confirm that the u-boot-generated MLO and u-boot.img work
fine on my xM, Rev C.
