Greetings to everybody from Embedded World Trade Show in Nürnberg.
TI exhibited there three new Sitara processor families AM16xx, AM17xx and AM18xx
in addition to the new AM35xx processors. They all are down-scaled versions of
the OMAP3 processors with some interesting new features such as the McASP,
Multichannel Audio Serial port - great for digital audio work. And
they are priced very aggressively in single digit dollars!
Unfortunately this drops the PoP features.
For me the most exiting of them is the AM1808. Does anybody know if somebody is
working on a BeagleBoard style board with AM1808 on it?
If somebody is about to start with such a design, I am glad to give a
few good advice!
TI also announced the new European distributor for BeagleBoard - EBV Elektronik.
They have a very nice and complete out-of-box HW/SW bundle that they call EBV
Beagle and sell for 179 euros. It includes power, all cables, 2 GB SD card with
pre-installed Linux image, U-Boot, X-loader and even a four-port USB
hub plus a USB-to-Ethernet stick to it. A good deal IMHO.
EBV is not a new distributor of the BeagleBoard. They sell their own version of the Beagle under their own name and have been doing so for a while now. But it is not a BeagleBoard per se and EBV is responsible for all warranty and repairs of their product and is not handled by BeagleBoard.org…
Order it from eother DigiKey or Mouser at this point. You can also order from any of the other distributors, but Only DigiKey has inventory at this point. The boards are still in short supply due to parts issues.

Gerald, I do admire your patience at answering so many question around
ordering, but why not put some of your frequently questioned answers
in bold letters on beagleboard.org or the "Buy" page?
Because, things change. We have 4000 boards getting ready to start into production. So, the answers to the frequntly asked questions have a tendency to change.
It's a clone, although their website doesn't explicitly state this.
It's advertised as being "fully compliant with the beagleboard.org
community", with TS handled by EBV.
I must confess that mine is an EBV board. It seemed the logical
solution as I'm in the UK. However, they also had delivery delays
(ordered in December, received in March). I've also yet to have the
USB hub PSU replaced for one with a UK plug (although the board PSU
itself came with interchangeable plugs).
