Hello All,
I need beagleboard expansion connector (female header 14x2).
What do we call to these connector? And is any soldering would be required to connect this header to beagleboard or just placing the header in the slot (holes) available on beagleboard is enough?

2.54mm pitched headers.
of course you need to solder it.
if you just place them in without soldering, they'll drop off in 2 seconds.

thanks for the info.
I am not good at all when it comes to soldering thats why I ask for it.
Suppose I solder one or two pins that will hold the expansion connector and left others as is, will it allow the signal from board to flows to these (left) pins.

hi,
if you want to do it properly,
1. solder all of the pins.
2. solder those pins that you use and strip off those that you do not use.
else
3. have yourself wondering every 2.54 minutes why the connection is not working.

There are special "press-fit" connectors that lock themselves to the
specially designed plated-through poles. I don't think Beagleboard
holes are designed for press-fit - but I am not sure.
Otherwise I recommend to contact to somebody who knows how to solder
and to farm out the job. I suggest using femile 2 x 14 socket
connector on Beagleboard and two rows of 14 pin headers on the
expansion board(s). Soldering information is available on
