Beaglebone Black HDMI - How to disable

This may seem counter intuitive considering people complain when HDMI doesn’t work, but … I’m doing a robotics project and I need some of the hardware muxed on the lcd_data lines and I have no need of video, so how do I completely disable (properly) the HDMI framer so that I may get at the eQEP lines?

Regards,

Thanks. Is there anything I should avoid connecting to those IO ports? If I just follow the standard 3.3V no more than 4 mA guidelines for standard IO I won’t damage the framer?
