Beaglebone Black Ubuntu 12.04+ GUI - anyone got it to work?

Hi there,

i’m pretty new to Beaglebone and Linux and i just succeeded in creating a bootable microSD card with Ubuntu 13.04 and installing ubuntu-desktop (after “sudo apt-get update” and “sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop”), but after rebooting the first time i got application errors like the time&date application crashing and after rebooting it freezes after the login.

I’m gonna try again with 12.04LT but the partition that created is too small to install the Desktop and i probably need to resize that. Has anyone got this to work on their Beaglebone?

Thank you.

The instructions at http://circuitco.com/support/BeagleBoneBlack, the URL on that little white card that came in the box with the board, works pretty well. You might try that.

Follow the directions under Ubuntu Precise on that page. I can confirm that it works with Ubuntu Desktop. There is also a link to instrucitons on how to re-partition your micro SD on that page if that’s all you need.
