I posted a questrion here about problems install gdb on Beaglebone blue and received a suggestion to run update. Regretfully i cannot post an answer to this, since i can only send one post per thread. But here is what i wanted to send:

Thanks for your comment. Yes that was one of the things I had tried, below is the response:, there must be something amiss in my installation, I just cannot figure out what.

It’s a feature of this forum software, for new users, you usually have to wait for me to wake up and approve… Eventually it just works.

How are you connected to the internet, Ethernet jack or the usb-ethernet bridge?

Regards,

Does the Blue have an ethernet jack ?

My guess would be Windows ICS over USB as that seems to cause the most problems.

Yeah, good point, I’ve destroyed so many Blue’s i no longer touch them… They do not…

They have built-in wifi, so thru connman you can bridge your SoftAP->WiFi.

For USB, make sure you are doing the Windows Internet Connection Sharing stuff…

Honestly for the Blue, it’s just easier to bridge WiFi

Regards,

Indeed, the wifi connection solved the problem, now my MVS C++ program is writing ā€œhello worldā€ all day long. Thanks again !!!
