BeaglePlay not fully powering off on shutdown w/ Debian 12.9 XFCE flasher image

Hi all,

We’re seeing some strange behavior with the BeaglePlay with the 12.9 XFCE flasher image. On two separate BeaglePlays, after we issue a shutdown command, the OS seems to shutdown, however the board appears to not fully power off. Although the green USR-LED0 turns off, the red PWR and amber WLAN LEDs stay illuminated. Also, the board continues to send an HDMI signal of a blank screen.

More problematic is that sometimes, after we try turning unplugging power and replugging power into the board to reboot the system, it does not boot up. It has a the PWR LED and USR-LED0,2,4 on, but nothing happens. No video, and no activity. This can also happen after a reboot command. Unplugging and replugging power an additional time allows the system to boot.

We do not see this behavior with the 12.7 XFCE image that it came from the factory with, presumably equivalent to the 12.7 XFCE flasher image. With the 12.7 factory image, after Debian finishes shutting down, all board LEDs turn off and HDMI signal stops.

Can anyone advise on this?

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, this is the first snapshots with v6.12.x-ti vs (v6.6.x-ti / v6.1.x-ti)…
Regards,

Ok, thanks Robert. I will stay tuned.

FYI, the 3/5/25 12.9 minimal flasher image also exhibits the same issue.

same v6.12.x-ti i was fixing a nasty error path in u-boot…
