BeaglePlay WL chip dies after 3 months of usage.

Hello Friends,
I want to see how your experiences with BeaglePlay board are.
My board’s wlan0 disconnects every minute. It even reported many times of drop when I issued command:
ifconfig

I just wish this board work out as my border router but it can’t.

This board is US$100, not cheap board. What made this board’s quality so low?
My MSI PC board also made in China but it has being worked for 5 years.

What we have found in certain cases you will have local threat actor(s) that are trying to breach your network. Is it this case??? You will have to find that out on your own, it does happen frequently.

Set up a honey pot if you are inclined, then send them a gift.
or
Buy another wifi router and set up a mock internet network and see what happens. When parts fail they eventually fail completely.

Turn on additional logging on both kernel and networking to see what is happening with the code.

FYI, your modem / networking gear might still be on kernel 2.xx.

If you have ISP provided wifi gear it is more than likely a fossil. Buy a current model from a reputable company and connect it as an AP by wire to your broadband modem.

You will also need admin access to your broadband modem, if you don’t have that change internet providers.

Really so bad?!?
Let me investigate. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Can I install an OpenWRT firmware on my TP-Link Archer C1200?

I heard that experts do this on some routers.

If you are referring to the bad actors, it is MUCH worse than folks can imagine. If you are in major city any one that is in range of your device can be a threat actor, that is a big number some places.

Not sure what to suggest because we have found the nasty in 2 brands and our stuff was sealed in factory boxes… What ever you do buy something current and go with a better brand, do your homework before buying. Main thing is besure you have admin access and NOT cloud base configuration, that is a recipe for trouble. If you cannot set it up in a local admin console, send it back and get another one.

The default iwd is enabled. It conflicts with Network Manager.

So I disable iwd and wifi seems very stable since then. :slightly_smiling_face:
