Building a 2gb lxqt version

Hello All,

Question: I have noticed the recent builds of lxqt come only in 4GB flavor.

Instead of manually deleting files I was wondering I could get access to a 2GB version with the latest kernel versions?

If they don’t exist, how do I go about generating one?

The elinux wiki page (http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#Debian_Build_Instructions) provides some instructions but it clearly states I should use a “fairly beefy ARM system”. All I have access to is a Beaglebone black rev C. I can try building on that but if there are scripts which could do the job on a fairly powerful intel/amd machine, i would prefer that instead.

Using a console version is not an option since I need to build a gui as well, hence starting from lxqt seems logical to me. However, if I am wrong please correct me.

Thanks
Gaurav

Hello All,

Question: I have noticed the recent builds of lxqt come only in 4GB flavor.

It was starting to bit rot, as i didn't personally test it anymore..
(it might not even fit on a 2gb bbb anymore)

Instead of manually deleting files I was wondering I could get access to a
2GB version with the latest kernel versions?

Just fired up a build:

http://rcn-ee.homeip.net:8080/view/Weekly/job/weekly_bb.org_bb.org-debian-jessie-lxqt-2gb-v4.4/1/console

Should have something uploaded in a hour or two..

If they don't exist, how do I go about generating one?

The elinux wiki page
(http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#Debian_Build_Instructions)
provides some instructions but it clearly states I should use a "fairly
beefy ARM system". All I have access to is a Beaglebone black rev C. I can
try building on that but if there are scripts which could do the job on a
fairly powerful intel/amd machine, i would prefer that instead.

qemu (x86 emulation of arm) is just too hit/miss to recommend it,
that's why we just say beefy ARM system..

Using a console version is not an option since I need to build a gui as
well, hence starting from lxqt seems logical to me. However, if I am wrong
please correct me.

Regards,

What qualifies as "beefy" (and that I can get today)? Something like this?

  http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G143452239825

2GB, Dual Core with onboard sata is fine..

Rick, Yes, and in fact I’m going to buy one myself very soon because it has 2G ram quad A15’s and quad A7’s, GbE that’s true GbE( not shared with another bus ) and USB 3.0. Plus, the emmc option is pretty dahmed fast in most cases. I think the Sandisk module( Samsung modules can’t be used with Samsung modules for some reason ), which has to be used with the XU4, has fairly slow write speeds( 24-ish MB/s ) in the 16G emmc. But has amazingly fast reads at around 150MB/s.

Anyway, it’s not a mustang board with 16G ram or anything like that, but it also doesn’t cost ~$1800 USD.

err, Samsung emmc modules can’t be used with Samsung processors*

Thanks, Robert. Much appreciated!

Forgot to send this out last night, so here you go
