Building Ångström fails

Hi:
I'm following the instructions at [1] and it fails with:

Did you put in your proxy config like the instructions say?

I just checked with the IT guys here and we don't run a firewall
proxy.

Any other suggestions?

I bumped into this a fair bit myself when I was told to follow those same instructions. I retried many, many times across multiple days, since it wouldn’t usually stop at the same place twice, if I waited a 1-3 hours between attempts.

Can you run the failing instruction manually?

It appears this [1] command is failing. It starts the command and
gets about 104k into the directory and then hangs.

The connection finally times out.
