Hi Jagannath,

hi
myself jagannath Dhar, pursuing M.Tech in Embedded System Design from
Sambalpur University Institute of Information Technology(SUIIT). I want
to
work on BBB-based Serial terminal Server idea listed on the beagle bone
idea page. As it do not list any mentor on the list can anybody clarify
about it and whom to contact.

I'm the one who posted the terminal server idea. If you have any
questions, please feel free to ask but please do so via the
beagleboard-gsoc group so everyone is able to follow along and
participate, too.

Sorry that I haven't updated this idea with the normal set of bullet
point information, yet.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew Bradford,

Can you explain the projects end system deliverable.
Is it expected to design a kernel module integration or a software interface
for the serial terminal server ideas implementation as it is not mentioned the software and hardware skill requirement.
And if kernel module integration is expected then
can u specify which Linux distribution to be used for the integration.

Thanks
Jagannath Dhar

Hi Jagannath,

Hi Andrew Bradford,

Can you explain the projects end system deliverable.

The GSoC ideas page pretty well covers the high level desire, to have a
serial terminal server made out of a BeagleBone. Beyond that idea, I
would hope that a prospective student would expand upon how such a thing
could be created and the details.

Is it expected to design a kernel module integration or a software interface

the software and hardware skill requirement.

I'm sorry I didn't fill out the bullet points like many other ideas had,
I ran out of time. There should be no need for special hardware and
hardware skills required would just be the ability to prototype with a
breadboard and jumper wires, really. GSoC is a software exercise.

I don't believe there's any need for kernel work, most of the
development would likely be userspace application development for the
core features.

There's no requirement for any Linux distribution to be used, any would
work fine.

Thanks,
Andrew

PS: There's not much time left to submit proposals!
