CodeComposer Ver.5.2.0

Has anyone tried the newer code composer for Linux yet? I’m just curious to know if anyone tried it with the beagleboard yet. If you want to know more about codecomposer, just go to the TI download site.

Thank you

I use CCSV5.2 and it work fine. Only issue I have at the moment is it doesn’t support DWARF4 debugging but TI will be adding this shortly. This means some of the local variables are unavailable when debugging. Also, TI have not added Kernel Aware Debugging like they had in CCSV4 in that they want to stay as close to the standard Eclipse releases as possible. The kernel aware debugging in CCSV4 required extensive customization of Eclipse so it was difficult to update to newer version of Eclipse as they became available. They also say there is little demand for Kernel Aware Debugging. Debugging of Linux Kernel code is still possible, but you don’t see thread info. Turning on Kernel Aware Debugging makes single stepping slow because of all the info that is updated. I use BlackHawk USB560M emulator, but a USB100V2 or USB100V3 work quite well. Using a USB100 or USB510 is just dog slow.

John
