Custom Beagleboneblack Board Kernel Restart Issue

Hi folks,

I want to use Beagleboneblack Image to our custom designed board thats same as BeagleboneBlack.

We just excluded the HDMI, Ethernet and P8-P9 headers . Therefore Our board didn’t havea a TDA19988 ann LAN8710.

I also solder 24LC32A EEPROM from the other BBB to our custom board.

When i try to boot from SD Card, kernel decompression was corrupt and then system start again .

What kind of modifications i need to make for able to use the official relased BBB Images(Latest Software Images - BeagleBoard) with my custom board?

Can i disable Ethernet from uEnv.txt?

I also share with boot message of my custom board and BBB.

Boot with an ID as a BeagleBone Green, that’ll save you from always disabling HDMI… ( https://github.com/RobertCNelson/boot-scripts/blob/master/device/bone/bbg-eeprom.dump )

Ethernet is probed over mdio, so missing a phy should silently fail wit no issue…

The random reboot on startup looks like watchdog kicking off…

Please remove “quiet” from your boot args, and let the serial debugger run a little farther…

Board resetted approximately 10 second while WDT Timeout value is 60.

I don’t know what kind of mechanism make a watchdog refresh and what causes the WDT reset without expiring

Is it related to lack of TDA19988 and LAN8710 ICs?

Honestly, it’s probably a pcb/board issue… I’d start probing everything related to clock, etc and compare with the working BeagleBone Black…

Sadly, pcb layout isn’t my expertise… But when we have a working board, vs a non-working board with the same software. It’s probally something simple, a missed solder joint, maybe shorted etc…
