Are there on the beableboard some devices (OMAP excluded) carrying its
own firmware, or is the only software on the SD?
In other words, if I replied BeagleBoard's hardware shuold I program
some devices (OMAP excluded)?

There are no other devices on the board onto which firmware is required to be loaded in order for it to function.
