Hi,
I am looking for a way to run my BBB off of a rechargeable battery. I want to be able to run either a full or headless system, with a wireless adapter plugged in over USB. I don’t have much electronics experience, and would rather not have to solder anything on to my board. If there is a simple-ish way that I can get a battery hooked up using the battery/charging pins on the board (without a cape), I would really appreciate instructions on finding the correct battery and setting it up!
Thanks,
Wasabi Fan
No need 2 touch the BBB. Get your rechargeable battery or batteries with about 6V output, a 2.1x5.5 mm barrel plug, a 100 uF capacitor, and a 7805 voltage regulator and you are in business.

Hi,
I am running my BBB with LCD7 off a rechargeable emergency pocket charger for cell phones like
this one:
http://www.reichelt.de/Mobile-Powerpacks/VTB-22/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=117929&GROUPID=4491&artnr=VTB+22
delivers 5V/2A 7200mAh.
Charging is simplistic: Connect to the USB port and wait.
HTH!
Best regards,
mcc
- Get one of those USB charging gizmos like an uNu Enerpak or Duracell pocket charger.
- Plug a mini-USB cable between the charger and the BBB.
- Done!
I ran my BBB over 9 hours on a 5000mAh uNu as a test, and that was with a GPS receiver on top of the Beaglebone. YMMV.
